Today’s TECH talk...
It seems some people are not used to or have never seen the FAKE malware message
that OFTEN ends up on Windows computers. The one that shows up blue looking like
its really from Microsoft and that warns you that your computer has been affected
and that you should not turn the computer off and that you have to contact them or else
you will have your computer shut down.
How many of you know what I am referring to? I get it all the time for instance when watching movies and tv shows on series.net and other places. THIS IS A FAKE MESSAGE and can easily be avoided by installing or activating ad blocker on your computer.
THIS IS NOT A REAL MESSAGE FROM MICROSOFT AND IF YOU MAKE THE MISTAKE OF
BELIEVING IT AND CLICKING IT THAT IN FACT IS WHEN THE VIRUS OR MALWARE
GETS INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER. Always ignore it.
BUT the point of this is that this and other malware can easily be introduced to your computer
via an email from someone ( WHO MAY NOT EVEN KNOW THEIR COMPUTER IS AFFECTED) or by a corrupted photo file. And countless other ways.
I DO KNOW however that my partner and I HAVE never ever had an issue with anyone's site we
have built for them getting a virus or malware based on content or code we have put in a site.
This morning someone informed me that they went to one of the ladies sites in my portfolio and that a message similar to the one described above popped up. OR perhaps its the one that you get now when you access sites that are not SSL encrypted where it warns you about entering the site safety ( THIS MESSAGE OCCURS WHEN A PERSON'S SSL certificate runs out. WE install SSL for free initially and then you can elect to buy your own SSL or you can pay us for SSL each time it expires or you can pay it yearly. AGAIN its not a virus you just need your SSL updated) but at any rate the point I am making is AT NO TIME IS IT DUE TO THE WAY A SITE WAS BUILT OR DUE TO ANYTHING WE HAVE ADDED THAT A SITE causes this issue on your computer.
JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN THAT WAY.
If you come to me and say I need a banner or badge added to your site to post on another site , please be aware that sometimes THOSE do include malware or tracking that can cause issue on others computers.
But again as a designer I do not know beyond the code you ask me to put in whether or not a sites code for its banner contains malicious content.
BE assured and rest assured. WE take security and SEO seriously here and to be honest GOOGLE will avoid and disqualify a site from ranking that uses malicious or dangerous code SO OF COURSE WE WOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO ALLOW IT.
So ladies , please be mindful that there are ALL kinds of ways your computers and phones can become affected.
I SUGGEST INSTALLING AVAST OR AVG ANTIVIRUS AND SCANNING AND CLEANING YOUR DEVICES OFTEN ,ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE THINGS WE AS COMPANIONS OPEN EACH DAY ON OUR DEVICES.
Everyone have a great weekend!
